NZART

INTRODUCING>>>>>>>IVAN HORN ZL2ATU

Born in Wanganui and educated at Wanganui East School and Wanganui Technical College, member of Radio Clubs at both these schools, Masters in charge were Bernie Daws ZL2SE and Scottie Kerr ZL2SK.

Membership of Branch 48 started in 1976 when I attended evening classe ran by members of the club. I passed my amateur exam in 1978 and was licensed as ZL2TWI. Grade two was passed in July 1979 my callsign changed to ZL2ATU, I took the final C.W. test in 1980.

During recent years I built a replica 1937 C.W. Transmitter which went on to win the Montgomery cup for the best article by an Old Timers Club member in Break In over the preceding year..... This project also won a special award in the "Straight Key Night" in 2009

In June 2010, I was appointed "Grand Old man" of the Old Timers Club ZL at the NZART Conference in Auckland

My employment history includes a 3 year commitment to the NZ Army under National Service where I was posted to Fort Dorset Wellington and trained as a Cook. Other positions were Sales Representative for A.S. Paterson & Coy ltd... Office Manager at the NZ Apple Pear Marketing Board and Assistant District Manager for the N.Z. Wheat Board. I owned and operated the Hill Top Fish Supply for 5 years and won two awards for customer service, quality and Hygeine.... This shop was the first to be issued an A Grade status in Wanganui

My interests in Radio are DX ing C.W. and regenerative receivers

My appointment as President of Br 48 was made at the Annual General Meeting in 2009
